In late February 2019, ION PROP Services reached an important milestone; we completed our first sub-sea hot tap. The hot tap was executed on a sub-sea pipeline in approximately 50’ of water in the Gulf of Mexico. During this time of year, the weather is known to play a major role in this sort of activity and this particular project was no exception, but to spite these challenges, ION PRO Services’ meticulous preparation and experienced personnel played a big role in achieving this momentous milestone. Everyone at ION PRO Services is proud of this achievement and we look forward to many more groundbreaking events in the future of this exciting company.

We are excited to announce that ION PRO Services, LLC have concluded an agreement with Frontier Pipeline Services (Pty) Ltd, that will see an enhanced service offering for hot tapping and plugging solutions. All the additional tapping and plugging equipment arrived from South Africa in August 2018. This means that ION PRO Services can perform service work up to 42” diameter and with additional equipment we recently took delivery off, pressures up to 5,000 psi.
Deon Botes has relocated to the Houston office where he will be part of the ION PRO team, rolling out the service to pipeline and plant operators. Frontier brings with it not only 30 years of pipeline experience, but 20 years of hot tapping and plugging services experience. The focus for Frontier was always a turnkey approach, starting at engineering and design, to in-service welding, pipeline intervention, cold cutting and pipe preparation and also including activities such as HDD to round off their extensive service offering. We are looking to the future with a sense of optimism and excitement and wishing the team all the very best.

Pipelines have been used as a safe, reliable way to transport a multitude of products for many decades. The reliance we place on pipelines as a transportation system, has also accentuated the uptime requirement for these pipeline systems. But, like anything mechanical, there are times when even the most reliable machine had to be taken out of service for much needed, or even critical maintenance or repairs. The same applies with pipelines.
